Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore possible connections between family therapy and positive psychology.
Methods: The researcher conducted a literature review of both family therapy and positive psychology, focusing on their theoretical connections and applications. The review explored the background, definitions, approaches, and viewpoints of positive psychology, and it traced these elements of positive psychology in both traditional and more recent family therapy models, such as solution-focused therapy and narrative therapy.
Results: Having determined shared characteristics and approaches between the two fields, the researcher offered more direct applications of positive psychology to family therapy, resulting in a proposed approach named ¡°positive family therapy.¡±
Conclusions: Based on the study results, the author suggested additional ideas for expanding positive family therapy.
